چکیده
Background: While previous phenomenological studies in Iran have explored the lived experiences of adolescents after divorce, this research advances the field by designing and validating the first structured, expert-based counseling intervention tailored for this population. This study, therefore, shifts the focus from exploration to a practical, validated solution.
Objective: To develop and validate a 14-session counseling model for children of divorce based on Iranian experts’ experiential knowledge.
Methods: A qualitative exploratory-descriptive study using content analysis was conducted. Twelve family counseling experts in Yazd (2022) were interviewed until saturation. Data were analyzed through Colaizzi’s method, and the model’s validity was assessed via CVR, CVI, and Cohen’s Kappa.
Results: The proposed 14-session model targets six core domains: (1) attitudes toward divorce, (2) emotional regulation, (Kalantari, Roshanfekr and Javaheri, 2011) problem-solving skills, (Jaberi er al., 2022) parent-child dynamics, (Askari-Nodoushan, Shams Ghahfarokhi and Shams Ghahfarrokhi, 2019) peer relationships, and (Amato, 2014) adaptive strategies. High validity (S-CVI/Ave=0.97) and reliability (κ=0.63, p<0.001) were confirmed, establishing a culturally-grounded framework distinct from prior phenomenological studies
Conclusion: This study offers the first expert-based counseling model in Iran for post-divorce adolescent care, distinct from prior works focusing on lived experiences. It provides a validated framework for therapists and policymakers.
